Poster Abstract
A perspective is given on the teaching of Statistics at a distance education institution in Africa, namely UNISA, a leader in the field of Distance Education for many years. Various aspects influence the performance of a student, such as background, academic record, age and the physical absence of an educator. In this presentation these aspects, as applied to a student in Statistics, as well as possible solutions are considered.
